JoAnnes Pizza Burgers

If you have ever had teenage boys in the house you will know that they like to create and eat food that perhaps isn’t exactly appealing to everyone.  I’ve seen creations like ketchup potato chips and pickles in a grilled cheese sandwich.  2 slices of pizza put together like a sandwich stuffed with a slab of ham left over from Easter dinner and mac and cheese tacos to name just a few interesting combinations.  This Pizza Burger recipe is one creation that I actually thought wasn’t too bad of an idea.  If you love pizza and hamburgers, you can’t not love this recipe.

Burger Patty – Makes 8 Burgers

2 lb. Lean ground beef

2 egg

2Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 Cup panko crumbs

1/2 cup diced onion

1 Cup cooked, crumbled bacon

3 cloves minced garlic

1 tsp salt

½ tsp pepper

Mix all ingredients together until combined thoroughly.

Divide mixture in half. Keep dividing each portion in half until you have 8 portions. Form into patties. To Freeze, wrap each patty individually in foil. And store in a large zip lock freezer bag.

Toppings

For a freezer meal option place each of these ingredients in a separate freezer bag and add to the large freezer bag with the patties to store in your freezer until you are ready to use.

8 slices Mozzarella cheese

1 tin pizza sauce

½ cup Pepperoni slices

Notes: I’ve kept this recipe simple for picky eaters but you can add and pizza toppings like

Pineapple, mushrooms, ham, olives, peppers, tomato,

Cooking Directions:

Cook patties from frozen on a grill until cooked through.  145 degrees F internal temp.

Serve patty on a hamburger bun topped with pizza sauce, pepperoni slices, and mozzarella cheese. You can add any other desired pizza toppings you like.
