Natural Fabric Softener

Vinegar is known as an all-natural cleaner. But did you know that it also can be useful in the laundry? It has a number of functions in a load of laundry.  The acetic acid in vinegar acts as a natural fabric softener eliminating static cling and lint. Vinegar rinses away any trace of detergent on clothing.  It also helps lift stains, whiten whites as well as stabilizing colour in fabrics.  Growing up whenever I bought a new pair of jeans or a brightly coloured piece of clothing my mother always advised me to wash it in vinegar for the first wash to colour stay the fabric, so it would not bleed into other clothes in future wash loads.

If you would like a scent on your clothes you can use the Natural Dryer Sheets under the link on my BLOG http://www.essentiallyorganizedlife.com/household/essential-oil-dryer-sheets/

I add Lemon essential oil to help boost stain removal and Melaleuca (Tea Tree) because of its antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial properties.

1/2 Cup White Distilled Vinegar

2 Cup Distilled Water

3 drops of lemon essential oil

3 drops of melaleuca

Use in the rinse cycle

or

in the fabric softener dispenser in front loading washers.
